Nickelodeon outlined its seasonal programming plans, revealing a packed holiday-themed lineup for many of its animated series. Among the slate is a new Rugrats holiday special. "Traditions" explores the various ways different families celebrate the holidays and how families from different cultures come together to form their own unique traditions. The description is something I'm sure we can all relate to around the holidays.
When Tommy’s first Chanukah falls on Christmas Eve, the Pickles family has to juggle their family traditions to make sure each feels important, while also celebrating Las Posadas with Betty and her family.
Rugrats "Traditions" will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on Thursday, December 2, and will then air on Nickelodeon the following week on Friday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The series will see Henry Winkler guest star as Boris, Tommy's "Bubbe," who ad-libbed the Chanukah prayer heard in the episode. Other guest stars include Raini Rodriguez as Gabi, Swoosie Kurtz as Minka, and Tata Vega as Tia Esperanza.
In addition to "Traditions," fans can catch another Rugrats holiday classic, "A Rugrats Chanukah," as the episode will be available to stream on Paramount+, Nick.com, and the Nickelodeon App. This holiday episode first aired in 1996 and tells the story of the Jewish holiday through the eyes of the Rugrats, who imagine themselves as the main characters.
SpongeBob SquarePants "It's A SpongeBob Christmas!" and Paw Patrol "Pups Save Christmas" along with Nickelodeon original holiday movies A Fairly Odd Christmas, Merry Christmas Drake & Josh, Santa Hunters, and Tiny Christmas will also be streaming on Paramount+ and other Nick services.
