The next chapter in the Avatarverse has been announced. Avatar: Seven Havens is an all-new series set in the mythological fantasy world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and will take place after the events of The Legend of Korra.
"For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally," said Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. "We can't wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko."
The series will focus on a new young Earthbender who discovers she's the new Avatar. The original 26-episode, 2D-animated series is being produced under the Avatar Studios banner from Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank with Michael DiMartino (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra) and Bryan Konietzko (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra) serving as co-creators and executive producers.
"When we created the original series, we never imagined we'd still be expanding the world decades later," said Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. "This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!"
Although only a logo for the series was revealed alongside the announcement, Nickelodeon did share a brief synopsis:
Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she's the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse.
Avatar: Seven Havens is comprised of Book 1 (13 half-hour episodes) and Book 2 (13 half-hour episodes). No premiere date or casting information has been revealed yet.
It's an exciting time for Avatar fans as Nickelodeon is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original animated series. In addition to this upcoming series, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are set to release the highly anticipated Untitled Animated Aang Avatar film, which will be released in theaters on January 30, 2026. The voice cast includes Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and Eric Nam.
Nickelodeon is celebrating the franchise in other ways as well, including all-new short-form originals coming to the Avatar: The Last Airbender YouTube channel, original content, like the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast, location-based experiences, and more. In fact, just this week we learned that the Magic the Gathering trading card game will have a crossover with Avatar: The Last Airbender releasing later this year.
And, of course, there's also the highly anticipated return of Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Season 2 officially began production in September of last year.
