LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS Is Returning For A Fourth Volume Of Extreme Animation On Netflix

Tim Miller and David Fincher's animated anthology series Love, Death + Robots has been given a go by Netflix for a fourth volume of episodes. Get ready for more extreme animation and storytelling.

Get ready for more extreme animation on Netflix.  Love, Death + Robots, the sci-fi animated anthology series and brainchild of Tim Miller and David Fincher, is returning for a fourth volume. Yes, more love, more death, more robots.

The announcement was made on social media with the simple statement: "Volume IV is a GO."

Love, Death + Robots is one of the most unique and creative series on Netflix as it's basically a collection of animated shorts produced by different animation studios from a range of countries. Although each standalone episode tells its own story with its own animation style, they are tied together by the universal themes of love, death, and robots — hence the title of the series. In each volume, you'll find episodes that explore genres such as comedy, horror, science fiction, and fantasy.

To date, there have been three volumes of Love, Death + Robots released on Netflix with the most recent debuting back in May. While some episodes stand out more than others, the series as a whole has been praised for its world-class animation and innovative storytelling.

The thing that makes Love, Death + Robots so appealing to many is the diversity in the stories that are told. There are currently 35 episodes between the three volumes of Love, Death + Robots and you're almost certain to get a different answer as to which volume is the best with each person that you ask.

Volume 1 is thought to have the most variety but that can also be attributed to it being the longest with 18 episodes. It sits at 77% on Rotten Tomatoes with a whopping 92% Audience Score.

Volume 2 is considered to be the weakest of the three with an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 60% Audience Score; although, there are still a few gems within it. The most recent Volume 3 currently sits at a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with an 84% Audience Score. Volume 3, to me, felt like it had the least variety as most episodes seemed action-oriented and focused on the death portion of the title.

As Volume 4 was just announced we still don't have any indication as to how many episodes we'll get. Volume 1 was the longest with 18 episodes; however, both Volume 2 and Volume 3 checked in with fewer than 10 episodes each. Regardless of episode count, I hope Volume 4 features a bit more variety in its stories.
