The Autobots are back in action! Transformers: Cyberworld returned for its second season on Saturday, August 22nd, per TFormers, and this one kicked off with a double premiere. Episodes one and two are streaming now, completely free, on the official Transformers YouTube channel.
The new season carries the subtitle Energon Surge, and it names the phenomenon driving this season's story. Old alliances fracture as the trouble spreads, and per the official synopsis, the surge unlocks new areas, new abilities, and new dangers across the digital world of Cyberworld, leaving one big question: is it a source of danger, or immense power?
The big shake-up lands on Bumblebee. He discovers a powerful new form of energon that makes him bigger and stronger than ever, but it also threatens to unleash his inner rage.
The official character description paints a scout we barely recognize: once cheerful and loyal, now sinking into his angst, still reeling from revelations that changed his whole worldview while his body goes through wild physical changes. That's a DARK arc for the franchise's friendliest face.
It's a bold choice for this character in particular. Bumblebee has been the franchise's kid-friendly gateway for four decades, from the little Volkswagen Beetle of the original 1984 series to fronting his own live-action movie in 2018. His entire job has been making the war between Autobots and Decepticons approachable. Handing that character a rage problem is the kind of swerve that could get longtime fans watching a YouTube kids' series out of pure curiosity.
Cyberworld is the CG-animated series that debuted on YouTube back on July 12th, 2025. We covered the original 36-episode announcement when the show first rolled out, and the free-to-watch format clearly worked well enough to earn a round two.
Hasbro hasn't revealed the episode count for Season 2, so we'll be watching the channel along with everyone else.
Of course there's a toy line. The Transformers: Cyberworld Energon Surge collection hit shelves this summer at Walmart, Amazon, and Entertainment Earth, running $10.99 to $54.99, with glow-in-the-dark parts and translucent energon armor pieces that combine into crystals. Highlights include:
For those of us who grew up in the 80s, this should feel familiar... The original 1984 Transformers cartoon, which ran 98 episodes and spun off the beloved 1986 animated movie, existed hand-in-hand with the Hasbro toy aisle, and four decades later the company is running the same play for the YouTube generation: a free cartoon, a wave of toys, and a story built to make you want both. The delivery changed from weekday afternoon TV to a streaming app, but the formula that hooked so many of us in front of after-school reruns is alive and well in 2026.
Cyberworld also carries more weight on the animation front than you might expect. The gorgeous 2024 theatrical prequel Transformers One won over critics and fans, but director Josh Cooley has said a sequel is unlikely after its soft box office. Add in the Skybound Energon Universe comics, which have an animated adaptation rumored but nothing confirmed, and this free YouTube series is currently the only Transformers animation actually delivering new episodes.
