Tim Miller and David Fincher's animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots dropped its new batch of episodes today on Netflix. Volume 3 of the adult animated series introduces nine new episodes from various directors and animation studios.
Perhaps most excitingly, David Fincher makes his animated directing debut in this batch. Fincher directed the short "Bad Travelling," which we also learned stars prominent voice actor Troy Baker. Based on the short story by Neal Asher, "Bad Travelling" takes us aboard a shark-hunting sailing vessel that's attacked by an intelligent giant crustacean.
The synopsis reads:
A jable shark-hunting sailing vessel is attacked by a giant crustacean whose size and intelligence is matched only by its appetite. Mutiny, betrayal and ventriloquism with a corpse… welcome aboard the animation directing debut of David Fincher.
Baker is known mostly for his voice work in video games. He previously voiced Joel in The Last of Us, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4, and Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite. But he's also got experience voicing animation, including Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, One Piece, and Naruto.
As for the rest of Love, Death & Robots Volume 3, we can expect to see a wide range of animated episodes filled with "terror, imagination and beauty." And for those of you who have stuck with the series since the beginning, you're treated with a return to the apocalypse in the first direct sequel in Love, Death & Robots history. Love, Death & Robots is now streaming on Netflix.
