In June,
it was announced that Darby Camp (
The Christmas Chronicles) and Jack Whitehall (
Good Omens) will be starring in Paramount Pictures' live-action movie adaptation of
Clifford the Big Red Dog. Additionally, some
other cast members were enlisted in Kenan Thompson (
Saturday Night Live), Rosie Perez (
White Men Can't Jump), and David Alan Grier (
The Cool Kids).
We've now gotten our first look at the set of the upcoming film and it's quite bizarre. Both Whitehall and Camp are present in the pictures — as Uncle Casey and Emily respectively. However, you can't miss the enormous stand-in for Clifford.
Two men, garbed in red shorts and shoes, can be seen lugging around a giant, hollow red shape — which resembles a dog about as much as it does a pair of crocs. This will obviously be painted over with CGI but it's still interesting to see the "before" without an "after" for comparison. It's also interesting to see that Clifford won't be near as big as he usually is.

The movie will see Emily , who is struggling to fit in at home and at school, discover a small red puppy who is destined to become her best friend. When Clifford magically undergoes one heck of a growth spurt, becomes a gigantic dog and attracts the attention of a genetics company, Emily and her Uncle Casey have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Along the way, Clifford affects the lives of everyone around him and teaches Emily and her uncle the true meaning of acceptance and unconditional love.
Clifford the Big Red Dog will arrive in theatres on November 13th, 2020.
