According to a recent report by
The Hollywood Reporter, both Darby Camp (
Big Little Lies,
The Christmas Chronicles) and comedian Jack Whitehall (
Good Omens,
Jungle Cruise) will star in the movie adaptation of
Clifford the Big Red Dog. Camp and Whitehall will play the characters of Emily and Uncle Casey respectively.
Additionally, the report reveals that the
Clifford the Big Red Dog movie is set to being production in a month's time and also revealed somewhat of a synopsis for the upcoming film, that goes as follows:
The movie will see Emily , who is struggling to fit in at home and at school, discover a small red puppy who is destined to become her best friend. When Clifford magically undergoes one heck of a growth spurt, becomes a gigantic dog and attracts the attention of a genetics company, Emily and her Uncle Casey have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Along the way, Clifford affects the lives of everyone around him and teaches Emily and her uncle the true meaning of acceptance and unconditional love.
Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to a film based on the popular children's series back in 2016. Walter Becker (
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip,
Old Dogs) is attached as director. Justin Malen is responsible for its screenplay.
Clifford the Big Red Dog will reportedly be a mixture of both live-action and animation. It is produced by both Scholastic Entertainment as well as Paramount Animation. Back in March,
it was announced that the
Clifford the Big Red Dog movie would arrive in theatres on November 13th, 2020.
