Dreamworks Animation is known for having extreme faith in their films - so much so to the point where the stories often get fully fleshed out within a spin-off series. Such is the case with projects like How to Train Your Dragon with Dragons: 9 Realms, for Trolls with Trollstopia, Kung Fu Panda's Legends of Awesomeness.
These are just a few examples with All Hail King Julien spinning off of Madagascar alongside the Penguins of Madagascar series showing that the studio is willing to explore multiple "sequels" to a single franchise. Dreamworks is smart to flesh out their beloved characters and worlds in this way and it is one of the things that sets their animated projects on another level than the average animation.
It has been proven that these series are beloved as they are constantly set for more and more additional seasons despite having followed the story from an initial single film, and one example of continued success is The Croods: Family Tree. While casual animation viewers may think of The Croods as a random one and done flick, the fanbase has proven themselves a force by demanding more stories in this world long enough that a whopping eighth season is prepping for a premiere - a milestone many shows never get the opportunity to reach.
Returning vocal talent often plays a big part in the longevity of an animated franchise like this, and the talents of Kiff VandenHeuvel as Grug, Amy Landecker as Ugga, Ally Dixon as Eep, AJ Locascio as Thunk, Artemis Pebdani as Gran, Dee Bradley Baker as Sandy, Darin Brooks as Guy, Matthew Waterson as Phil, Amy Rosoff as Hope, and Abby Trott as Dawn are all set to return in just two weeks for a brand new batch of episodic adventures.
The logline promises that the chidren are set to step up and keep the two groups together after a misunderstanding amongst the adults threatens to pull the Bettermans and the Croods apart forever, and fans of this series will be excited to see how Ugga, Grug, Thunk, and the others play into this narrative when it hits Hulu and Peacock on November 9th.
