Marvel Studios recently had a special screening for the final two episodes of X-Men '97 and by all reports, the show knocks it out of the park.
The penultimate episode is currently streaming on Disney+ and the final episode will premiere on August 12, 2026.
What are your theories on where the show is taking viewers in the season finale?
The show was previously confirmed for a third and fourth season but it seems that the production team is already thinking about season 5.
The 10-episode first season concluded on May 15, 2024, but it wasn't until July 1, 2026 that season 2 premiered. Hopefully, the extended delay can be attributed to Beau DeMayo's controversy, and season 3 will arrive much more quickly.
In season 2, the show juggles three distinct time periods: ancient Egypt (3000 BCE), the far future (3999 AD), and the present day as En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) becomes the main foe. Based on hints and clues, it looks as if Onslaught could potentially be the primary villain of season 3.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.
