Based on the popular animated series of the 1980s, a live-action movie adaptation of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is in the works at Sony. Currently, the film is set to arrive in theatres on March 5th, 2021.

Aaron and Adam Nee, who are known for directing 2016's Band of Robbers, will helm the Masters of the Universe movie. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway will pen the script — those two are best known for writing 2008's Iron Man. Thus far, the cast only consists of Noah Centineo and he'll play Prince Adam A.K.A. He-Man.

In a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, it is suggested that Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman is considering selling the project to Netflix in order to minimise the risk of it being an unfruitful endeavour. Sony and Netflix are reportedly in the preliminary stages of discussion at the moment.

Master of the Universe is set to arrive in theatres on March 5th, 2021.
