Here's the first footage from the season finale of Rick and Morty season 7,episode 10, titled Fear No Mort.
The general consensus among the fandom was that this season has been up and down, with standout episodes being 3,5,7 and 9. Fans are hopeful that the show ends on a high note.
Earlier this season, Rick finally killed his nemesis Rick Prime and it seems the show is setting up Evil Morty as the new big bad. While Evil Morty doesn't appear in the promo, the title of the episode certainly seems to imply that he'll be playing a major role.
We also have a behind-the-scenes look at the show's recently aired penultimate season 7 episode, Ragnarick. On a quest for Bigfoot in Norway, a naked Rick teams up with Vikings, crosses paths with the pope, and confirms that the Afterlife exists.
Now that Rick Prime has been eliminated, it appears like Evil Morty will take center stage as the main antagonist of the program.
But considering how abruptly Rick Prime left, don't be shocked if, by the time season 7 concludes, Evil Morty also gets his comeuppance.
However, it's also possible that Evil Morty could go on to become the primary antagonist for future seaons to come. The show is already confirmed to continue through season 10 and season 8 has already been written.
In a previous interview, show co-creator Dan Harmon teased that season 8 would feel more like a return to form as season 7 was produced under turbulent conditions due to behind-the-scenes controversy.
" Season 7 just represents one more brick in that road, and it’s season 8, which is already written, when that comes out, I think it’ll be even more so," said Harmon. "It’ll feel like a return to form and kind of like a “we’re back, baby” kind of feeling, and hopefully, season 9 will be that but, you know, even more so. But it’ll be because it’s been a gradual process of just trying to get our wind in our sails again."
