Starring Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski; the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie recently arrived in theates.
Last week, the movie debuted on
Rotten Tomatoes with a Tomatometer score of 70% but that soon dropped to 64% (which it currently sits at). That percentage is calculated based on how many
Sonic the Hedgehog reviews by professional critics are positive and how many are negative.
While the majority of reviews by critics are positive, they're nowhere near as fond of the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie as general moviegoers are. This is exemplified by the Audience Score over on Rotten Tomatoes. Calculated the same way at the Tomatometer score is; the Audience Score for
Sonic the Hedgehog currently sits at 94% after almost 10,000 reviews (via
Gamefragger).
That's almost a perfect score and pretty impressive. It's also interesting to see the disparity between how critics perceive the video game movie and how general audiences do — though it certainly isn't the first time something like this has happened. Similarly,
Sonic the Hedgehog earned an "A" grade from CinemaScore —
