Earlier this month, classic 1996 animated/live-action film Space Jam joined Netflix — find out more on that here. Now we've got some pretty significant new in regards to its upcoming sequel. Previously known simply as Space Jam 2, star LeBron James recently revealed the sequel's official title and logo.
Officially, the sequel is called Space Jam: A New Legacy. What's more, it has a snazzy, new logo that's reminiscent of the original Space Jam logo but frankly a whole lot cooler. In a new Instagram post, the Lakers star revealed the logo and title via his hat. He also explained how production has been affected by the coronavirus lockdown (it basically hasn't been):
Space Jam has always been scheduled to come out in June of 2021. So we're kind of ok. And a lot of it right now is animation, so being indoors is actually great for us. So we’re still on. Just like everything in the world, everything is slowed down a little bit, but we’re still on target. I’m looking forward to it. During this time right now, I wish we could release it right now, man, and give people some things to watch in their households. But we got until next year, next summer. We’re excited about it.
Basketball superstar LeBron James will star and produce along with Ryan Coogler (Black Panther). The cast also includes Don Cheadle (Avengers: Endgame) and Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery) as well as, presumably, the voice actors behind many of the Looney Tunes. Malcolm D. Lee, best known for Night School, serves as director.
That is, not to mention a plethora of other NBA and WNBA stars such as Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors), Chris Paul (Oklahoma City), Damian Lillard (Portland Trailblazers), Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury), Chiney Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks), and Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks).
