Space Jam is a classic American animated/live-action film that debuted all the way back in 1996. Michael Jordan stars alongside a plethora of iconic characters from the Looney Tunes series — such as Bugsy Bunny, Daffy Duck, and many more. The cast also includes Bill Murray, Wayne Knight, Danny DeVito, and other professional basketball players such as Charles Barkley.
The film tells a fictionalised account of what happened between Michael Jordan's initial retirement from the NBA in 1993 and his comeback in 1995. The Looney Tunes enlist the help of the professional basketball player to help them win an intergalactic basketball game against the Monstars and Mr. Swackhammer — who plans to enslave the animated characters should they lose.
While the movie proved to be hit-or-miss with critics, Space Jam went down well at the box office and remains the highest-grossing basketball movie even to this very day. What's more, a sequel is currently in the works and set to release in July of next year. This time around, LeBron James will star. Malcolm D. Lee (Night School) directs and Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) produces.
That, therefore, makes now the perfect time to rewatch the classic or check it out for the first time. Wouldn't you know it? Space Jam was recently added to Netflix. It seems to be available to stream everywhere. It's an hour and twenty-seven minutes long and rated U (which means suitable for children). Here's a link to the movie's official Netflix page.
