SPACE JAM 2: Nike Reveals New Tune Squad And MonStars-Themed LeBron 17 Sneakers

Space Jam 2 won't take to the hard court until next summer, but Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will be using this weekend's NBA All-Star game to debut a pair of new sneakers inspired by the upcoming movie that he's set to star in. Courtesy of Slam Kicks, we've got some new promotional shots of the two pairs of Nike LeBron 17s. Both sneakers look like they match the uniforms of their respective teams.

The LeBron 17 Low "Tune Squad" shoes are red, white, and blue and feature a furry Swoosh clearly inspired by Bugs Bunny. On the inside of the tongue reads the character's signature phrase, "What's up Doc?" The sole of the shoe features the Tune Squad logo.

Opposite this comes the Nike LeBron 17 "MonStars," a pair of sneakers inspired by the movie's villains. These sneakers are purple-ish with a galaxy-looking accent. The tongues differ in colors, with one being orange and the other purple. Each sneaker also has the number "0," which kind of looks like the MonStars jersey as well.

Both the MonStars and Tune Squad Nike LeBron 17s are expected to be released during the NBA All-Star Weekend, beginning February 14. As for Space Jam 2, it is slated to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.

LeBron James will star in the film alongside the iconic cast of Looney Tunes. A few NBA stars such as Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, and Klay Thompson are also expected to have cameos.

Unfortunately, not much else is known about the movie other than it being more of a reboot than a true sequel. Malcom D. Lee is directing having replaced original director Terence Nance. LeBron James and Ryan Coogler are producing.
