When the Tune Squad hit the hard court against the Monstars next year in Space Jam 2, both sides will be donning uniforms emblazoned with the iconic Nike swoosh. The new threads for both squads have been revealed and while the Tune Squad uniform is more or less the same as the one worn in the original 1996 film, the Monstars have undergone a full rework.
The major difference with the Tune Squad is the addition of the speech bubble that reads "What's up doc?" The Monstars are still going with the navy blue look, but have replaced the yellow accent with more of an orange-ish color and now have their team name on the jersey along with some space-themed artwork within the numbers.
Space Jam 2, which is technically more of a reboot than a sequel, began shooting last summer. Original director Terence Nance has since been replaced with Malcolm D. Lee, although LeBron James and Ryan Coogler are still producing. James is also starring in the film alongside a number of other NBA superstar cameos and, of course, the Looney Tunes characters.
Space Jam 2 is scheduled to take the court on July 16, 2021.
