Later this week, Netflix will deliver a Christmas present early in the form of its new holiday movie
Klaus. The upcoming 2D animated film looks to spread holiday cheer this Christmas season with a unique tale of Santa's origin story.
Klaus follows the journey of a failed postal trainee Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) who gets exiled to the frozen town above the Arctice Circle dubbed the "unhappiest place on Earth." Upon meeting a local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones) and discovering Klaus (J.K. Simmons), the mysterious carpenter who crafts handmade toys, the trio set out to return joy and happiness to the town.
Ahead of the film's Netflix premiere, the streaming service has shared a brand new clip. The clip highlights the magic and excitement that children associate with the holiday — Christmas deliveries — while showcasing just how the tradition got started. Turns out, there was a bit more effort than simple magic that went into delivering presents. While
Klaus will undoubtedly be a heartwarming tale about friendship and laughter, this clip showcases some of the more lighthearted, humorous moments.
When Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) distinguishes himself as the postal academy’s worst student, he is stationed on a frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where the feuding locals hardly exchange words let alone letters. Jesper is about to give up when he finds an ally in local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones), and discovers Klaus (Oscar® winner J.K. Simmons), a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys. These unlikely friendships return laughter to Smeerensburg, forging a new legacy of generous neighbors, magical lore and stockings hung by the chimney with care. An animated holiday comedy directed by Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos, KLAUS co-stars Joan Cusack, Will Sasso and Norm Macdonald.
Klaus arrives on Netflix on November 15.
