Only a couple of days remain until
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil arrives in theatres but professional critics have already gotten to see the upcoming, live-action Disney sequel.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is a sequel to 2014's
Maleficent and sees Angelina Jolie reprise the titular role and Elle Fanning return as Princess Aurora. New this time around, Michelle Pfiefer is introduced as Queen Ingris and she doesn't take kindly to the formerly wicked witch — resulting in an all out war between humans and fairy tale creatures.
Rotten Tomatoes is a site which collects reviews and calculates a percentage based on how many of them are positive.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil's Tomatometer score has now been revealed. Thus far, a total of 54 reviews have been tallied up — 27 of them are positive and 27 are negative. Therefore, the film sits at an unimpressive Tomatometer score of 50%.
There's still time for the score to recover by the time the film releases, but that's unlikely. It seems that
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will prove to be divisive at best — like its predecessor which sits at 53% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to arrive in theatres on October 18th, 2019.
