Animation is leading the pack this year at the Environmental Media Awards, gaining nominees in the categories of Feature Film and Children’s Television.
Up for the big award, Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs (Twentieth Century Fox) is nominated for Feature Film. The stop-motion-animated film addresses the impact of waste on the environment via Trash Island. The only other nominee for Feature Film includes Warner Bros.’ Aquaman, which increased awareness about pollution in the ocean, making it an integral plot point and the reason for Orm’s war against the surface world.
In the category of Children’s Television, Peg + Cat (PBS Kids) has been nominated for its episode “The Compost Problem,” where the title characters discover how to create a garden from compost. Disney Junior’s Mission Force One is also nominated in the same category for the episode “Sea Change.” The full list of animated nominees can be seen below:
