Superbowl Sunday isn't the only special event today as Pixar fans celebrate 2319 Day, a reference to an emergency code used in the film MONSTERS INC.

In honor of today’s date (2/3/19), fans of the Pixar Animation Studios’ film Monsters Inc. marked today as 2319 Day! 

 

On Superbowl Sunday, Disney/Pixar fans are instead commemorating a different kind of tackle: the hilarious scene from Monsters Inc. where George Sanderson, a fuzzy orange one-horned monster, gets detained and quarantined by the CDA (Child Detection Agency) after a single white children’s sock is spotted on his back. In the film, “2319” is the code used to call the CDA, who are tasked with protecting the monsters from any child contaminant and keeping the children from entering the Monster World.  

 

It is believed that the code “2319” is a reference to the alphabet, since “W” is the 23rd letter in the alphabet while “S” is the 19th.
