The Walt Disney Company has announced some additional international roll-out dates for its Disney+ streaming platform.
Disney+ will launch in Canada and the Netherlands on November 12, the same day as the United States. Australia and New Zealand will have to wait one week before its arrival on November 19. Disney expects the streaming service to launch
"in most major markets within the first two years."
As the global rollout for Disney+ begins on November 12, Disney+ will be priced at $8.99CAD per month (or $89.99 per year) in Canada and €6.99 per month (or €69.99 per year) in the Netherlands. The following week, Disney+ will launch in Australia and New Zealand on November 19, priced at $8.99AUD per month (or $89.99 per year) and $9.99NZD per month (or $99.99 per year), respectively.
Earlier this month, Disney
announced plans to offer a bundle that features Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu for just $12.99 per month. Presumably, this bundle price will be offered intertionally as well.
In addition to the dates, Disney also announced partner platforms and supported devices for the streaming service. Most major platforms across Apple, Google, Microsoft, Roku, and Sony will distribute the Disney+ app across mobile and connected TV devices. The official list of supported platforms and devices (dependent on country) includes:
-
Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV, and fully integrated with the Apple TV app; customers can subscribe to Disney+ via in-app purchase)
-
Google (Android phones, Android TV devices, Google Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices)
-
Microsoft (Xbox One)
-
Sony / Sony Interactive Entertainment (all Android based Sony TVs and PlayStation®4)
-
Roku (Roku® streaming players and Roku TV™ models)Interestingly
Interestingly, one of the major platforms not supported is Amazon's Fire TV. Also missing from the list is the Nintendo Switch, though Disney is reportedly in negotiations to get the service on Nintendo's hybrid console.
Disney+ launches on November 12, 2019 and will feature animated series like
Marvel's What If...?,
Monsters at Work, and
Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
