Almost two years have passed since
Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle debuted and essentially rebooted the
Jumanji franchise. To most people's surprise, despite going up against
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the
Jumanji film proved to be a hit both critically and especially financially.
Its sequel will be releasing on December 13th and similarly be pitted against a mainline
Star Wars instalment — this one purportedly being to be the saga's finale. Industry experts have published their official predictions for how well
Jumanji: The Next Level will fare at the domestic box office. Though, keep in mind that they're long-range forecasts and liable to be a tad off base.
According to Box Office Pro (via
Gamefragger),
Jumanji: The Next Level will made about $70 million during its opening weekend. Specifically, the site suggests that it will made between $66 million and $76 million when it debuts domestically. It's said that the
Jumanji sequel's overall domestic sum will be about $265 million.
This speculation is backed up with boths pros and cons that are for and against the film respectively. Firstly, it's mentioned that it will thrive off of being a sequel to the success that was Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle as well as featuring a popular cast and appealing to multiple demographics. Though, it's also mentioned that the
Star Wars instalment could cause some trouble for
Jumanji.
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Jumanji: The Next Level is set to release in theatres on December 13th, 2019.
