I've got some good and bad news about Anne Hathaway's upcoming
Sesame Street movie.
In a recent report by
The Wrap, it was revealed that production of the Warner Bros. movie has been delayed by a total of nine months. Having been originally set to start next month; shooting will now begin in April of 2020. This change has surprisingly not shifted the film's release date - which remains as January 15th, 2021.
Additionally, Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia) is still on-board to direct and Chris Galleta will write the script. Shawn Levy and Michael Aguilar are attached as producers.
Before Bo Burnham was an accomplished film director, having both written and directed
Eighth Grade, he was once a stage comedian. As well as typical comedy, his shows would feature a plethora of witty songs. Somebody at Warner Bros. evidently took notice of Bo's songwriting ability as, according to a recent report by
Deadline, the theatrical adaptation of the beloved children's show will feature original songs written by Burnham.
The Sesame Street movie is set to release in theatres on January 15th, 2021.
