Will Smith promised a different kind of Genie in Guy Ritchie's live-action adaptation of Aladdin. In a newly released clip from the film, we now get a better idea of what he meant by that.

Courtesy of IGN, we have a snippet of Will Smith singing and performing the iconic song "Prince Ali," which was originally performed by Robin Williams in the 1992 animated film. For those unfamiliar with the original animated movie, this is the song in which the Genie introduces Aladdin as a prince to the town of Agrabah.

While we've seen bits and pieces of this song in previous trailers and clips, this is a full, unedited minute-long sneak peek. Check out the brief clip below.

It's not a bad performance, but the general consensus is that it's lacking the excitement and pizzazz that Robin Williams brought to the role. Many feel that this rendition of the song falls flat and doesn't have the same type of energy as Williams' version. Of course, this is only a brief snippet, so it's possible that Disney is holding back some of the magic until Aladdin hits theaters later this month on May 24.

What do you think of Will Smith's performance of "Prince Ali"?
