A New Hi-Res ALADDIN Image Provides A Finished Look At Will Smith's Blue Genie

Following the overwhelmingly negative reaction to our first look at the Genie in a TV spot for Aladdin, Disney has now released an official image showing Will Smith in all his blue glory. Check it out!

Not too long ago, Disney finally pulled back the curtain on Aladdin with an Entertainment Weekly cover story which showed off Will Smith's Genie in all his glory...well, sort of.

The actor more closely resembled the Genie from the Broadway stage show than the cartoon version from the Disney animated movie and fans weren't happy. Smith was quick to clarify matters when he confirmed that it was just his human disguise and the blue Genie would, of course, be making an appearance (courtesy of special effects).

Since then, we've seen some leaked promo art but it was a TV spot that finally revealed him in all his glory last night. Needless to say, the response has been mostly negative thanks to the appalling special effects but a hi-res still released by Disney offers up a much better idea of how he'll look once those are finished. Well, hopefully! It depends whether Disney can finish them all in time!

Aladdin certainly has some potential but Guy Ritchie has a spotty track record and you only need to look at King Arthur for proof that he has poor judgement when it comes to VFX...
