Ravensubrger has finally confirmed when we can expect the previously announced reprint of Disney Lorcana's The First Chapter. After moving up the timeline from 2024 to "holiday 2023," the maker of the collectible trading card game has narrowed the window even further.
We can now expect the reprint of Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter to begin shipping in mid-November -- just in time for the holidays. While the October restock is just for boosters, the reprint will contain both boosters and starter decks, hopefully allowing everyone with an interest in the game the ability to find cards.
"We hope that this reprint quantity will make the game more readily available," Ravensburger said. "Our goal is for fans to have no difficulty finding product to get started."
Ravensburger confirmed there will be no mark on the cards designating they were part of the reprint. Many collectors were hoping the reprints would have a mark on them that would distinguish them from the original run of cards. This would've allowed for the original print cards to retain their high value as they would be thought of as rarer and, therefore, more valuable for collectors.
"Our goal is for fans to be able to purchase and enjoy the Disney Lorcana TCG product at the suggested retail price, and we will continue to take steps to ensure a level of availability and quality that keeps the market healthy for both collectors and players," Ravensburger said when they first announced plans for a reprint. It's unclear how large this reprint will be, but it seems they focused mostly on growing the game rather than keeping cards limited and stifling the actual gameplay potential, especially as they also just announced plans to start hosting competitive events in 2024.
The reprint arriving in mid-November will coincide with the release of Disney Lorcana's second set of cards, titled Rise of the Floodborn. Ravensburger has already confirmed that the reprint will also include cards from this upcoming second set.
Rise of the Floodborn is set to arrive at local game stores starting November 17 followed by a wider release at big box retailers on December 1st. It's quite possible that the reprint's arrival will coincide with the release of Set 2 as they are both technically mid-November.
While Rise of the Floodborn will first be released at local game stores, it's unclear if the reprint will also only be available at smaller hobby stores, or if larger retailers like Target, Walmart and Best Buy will get shipments as well.
