Initial reactions and impressions for Disney's Cruella have hit the web and critics are raving about the upcoming villain origin story. While we'll have to wait a bit longer for full-blown reviews of Disney's latest live-action reimagining, the initial impressions have set some pretty high expectations.

Emma Stone, who plays the titular character, and Emma Thompson, who portrays the fashion legend Baroness von Hellman, both received high praise for their performances in the film. Their rivalry was one of the most talked-about aspects.

The film was also praised for its hair and makeup, production and costume design, and rocking soundtrack. Perhaps the most interesting revelation to come about from these early impressions is that Cruella has legitimate LGBTQ+ representation.

It seems Disney has yet another hit on its hands with Cruella. Although we have to wait until May 26 for the review embargo to lift, check out what critics are buzzing about with Cruella.

If there's one common complaint about the film, it's the run time. Checking in at just over two hours, multiple critics shared the same sentiment that Cruella ran just a bit too long.

It's worth mentioning that early impressions are often positive so take these comments with a grain of salt. We'll get a better idea of the film when the actual reviews hit later this month.

Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”). But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

Disney's Cruella will premiere simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ on May 28. Those watching on Disney's streaming service will have to pay the Premier Access fee in addition to their monthly subscription.

Yeah some of these live action remakes got good reviews but I always found them disappointing even the ones that got praised. I know a lot of people say The Jungle Book was good but while it’s not bad I never really saw it as that great. There’s also praise for Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin but I just never saw them as good movies. So while I shouldn’t really judge a film before I see it, I just don’t see how good this movie might be but based on the trailer which of course reminds me of a certain other villain origin movie I am a little interested but most likely may not like it, but who knows if this may finally be the live action reimagining that finally does it?
