Disney's collaborative efforts with Bluey won't end with just a big screen appearance. It's been announced today that the beloved Blue Heeler puppy -- and star of the Emmy®-winning animated series -- will join Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on land and Disney Cruise Line at sea.
Emmy Award-winning Ludo Studio, producers of the hit series Bluey, are working closely with BBC Studios and Disney on "a number of special activations" that will be featured in both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Details on what these activations will be remain under wraps, but it doesn't sound like we should expect any sort of ride attraction. It's possible that we could get a mini-stage show or possibly a float in one of the parades. Disney did confirm a meet-and-greet with Bluey and her family within the theme parks.
Meanwhile, beginning in January 2025, Disney Cruise Line voyages from Australia and New Zealand will feature special meet-and-greets with Bluey and her sister Bingo, along with an "interactive and clue-filled game that ends in a dance party featuring Bluey's signature moves."
"Bluey has become a household name for families around the world and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways," Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro said in a statement. "We can’t wait to watch our youngest guests and their families make memories with Bluey in our parks and on our cruises.”
"'It’s a lovely day to go boat riding’ and we’re incredibly excited that Bluey and Bingo will be sailing on Disney Cruises, bringing Bluey’s magic to families on the high seas!" added Ludo Studio.
This is the latest expansion of the partnership between The Walt Disney World Company and BBC Studios. Earlier this week, it was announced that Disney acquired the global theatrical rights for the upcoming Bluey film, which Ludo Studio will produce in collaboration with BBC Studios. It will be released in theaters in 2027 under the Disney banner and will eventually stream on Disney+. The upcoming movie will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm.
Although Disney doesn't technically own Bluey, the series has become very closely associated with the House of Mouse after it made its international premiere on Disney Jr. It is also available to stream on Disney+.
"Since its debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families everywhere with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination and connection," said Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, co-chairmen of Disney Entertainment. "We are so proud to expand upon our relationship with BBC Studios to bring the magic of Bluey to the big screen – for real life! – and we are deeply grateful to Joe Brumm for creating a world that continues to inspire and delight families everywhere.”
Created by Joe Brumm, Bluey follows the adventures of a lovable, excitable, and often inexhaustible six-year-old puppy, who along with her sister Bingo, parents, and friends is learning all about the world. Since its debut in 2018, Bluey has captured audiences across the globe thanks to its mixture of humor, charm, and constructive messaging that often offers insight that both children and parents can relate to and learn from. Its ability to resonate with both kids and adults makes it a perfect show to watch as a family, and it will undoubtedly be a major attraction at Disney parks when it does arrive.
