Chinese-American actress
Ming-Na Wen is set to voice the character of Phyla-Vell in an upcoming episode of
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. Marvel briefly detailed the animated show's two new epsiodes which will debut on Sunday, April 22.
Ming-Na Wen, who is known for the playing the role of Melinda May in ABC's
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as well as voicing the animated Disney Princess Mulan, will voice Phyla-Vell in the first episode titled
"Happy Together."
In the episode “Happy Together,” The Guardians, desperate after squandering their riches almost instantly, take what they believe to be a simple transport job. What they don’t know is that they are stealing a mysterious item from the Krr, and the ruthless Kree leader Phyla the Accuser will stop at nothing to get it back!
Marvel also detailed the second episode airing directly afterward, titled
"Gotta Get Outta This Place."
Then, in the episode “Gotta Get Outta This Place,” the Guardians find themselves in prison for stealing a mysterious “package” from the Kree – but it was all set up by Howard the Duck. Can they escape the ultimate prison run by the evil warden Minn-Erva and prove their innocence?
“Phyla-Vell is a fierce warrior who’s main objective is to bring criminals to justice.” Ming-Na Wen said of her new
Guardians role. “It was very fun to play such a strong woman who is sure about what’s right and wrong.”
