The adventures of Fionna and her loyal cat, Cake, are set to continue with a second season. Unlike the original Adventure Time, where their stories appeared as the Ice King’s fanfiction, Fionna and Cake reimagines them as real characters navigating a vast multiverse.

A spin-off of Cartoon Network’s beloved series, the show debuted on Max on August 31, 2023, and quickly earned a renewal.

Created from Natasha Allegri’s designs, the series introduces gender-swapped counterparts to Finn the Human and Jake the Dog, giving fans a fresh yet familiar perspective.

In this version, Fionna is a young woman living with her cat in a world stripped of magic.

Alongside Simon Petrikov, the human identity of the Ice King, the duo ventures across dimensions, pursued by a dangerous adversary determined to erase them from existence. With its mix of nostalgia, reinvention, and high-stakes storytelling, the spin-off expands the Adventure Time universe in bold new ways.

Below, you can check out a new still from season 2, which features a fresh look at Huntress Wizard who had a deep connection with Finn the Human in the original Adventure Time series.

Fans will get their first look at Fionna and Cake season 2 during a special panel at New York Comic Con 2025. The sneak peek is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, at 12:45 p.m. on the Main Stage.

Showrunner Adam Muto will join voice actors Madeleine Martin, Roz Ryan, and Ashly Burch to discuss the upcoming season and share new insights about the series.

If season 2’s trailer and release date haven’t been revealed beforehand, chances are high that both will be announced during this highly anticipated panel.

"To know that the show will continue into a second season feels both wonderful and frankly surreal. Thanks to 'Adventure Time's' creator Pendleton Ward, the team at Max, the talented cast & crew, and the passionate audience who made this possible," Muto shared in a previous press release.

Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation, added, "Fionna & Cake' gave us all the familiar joys from the land of Ooo while pushing the 'Adventure Time' franchise forward. Thanks to Adam Muto and his amazing team for bringing us to all new multiverses and rich new levels of charm, fun, and heart-filled stories. I can't wait to see where they take us next."
