Saturday mornings just got more exciting. Episodes of The Real Ghostbusters have begun airing on YouTube.
The popular '80s animated television series was a spinoff/sequel to the 1984 film, Ghostbusters. The series continued the adventures of paranormal investigators as they travel around New York City and across the world trying to capture rogue spirits.
The series ran for seven seasons from September 1986 to October 1991 and consisted of 140 episodes. Reruns of the beloved series continued running well into the '90s and since then the series has popped up from time to time, including brief availability on Netflix.
Now Ghostbusters fans can relive the glory days of '80s/'90s Saturday morning cartoons as episodes of The Real Ghostbusters are being uploaded to YouTube. The series is being hosted on the official Ghostbusters YouTube channel, with new episodes seemingly being uploaded every Saturday morning.
The first episode of the series was uploaded this morning and can be watched now. Titled "Ghosts R Us," the episode follows a ghost family of Class Fives who look to get revenge on the Ghostbusters by driving them out of business.

It's likely The Real Ghostbusters was brought back to drum up some excitement for the franchise while waiting for the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The upcoming film, which is a direct sequel to the original two Ghostbusters movies, was supposed to release in July 2020 but has been delayed numerous times due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. It's now slated to release on November 21, 2021. In the meantime, it looks like younger audiences can familiarize themselves with the franchise through episodes of The Real Ghostbusters.
