Sony Pictures' Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning animated superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse featured all kinds of
special bonuses and goodies on its home release.
Among the many goodies was the original short
Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham, a prequel to the feature film that highlighted Peter Porker's battle with Doctor Crawdaddy right before the events of
Into the Spider-Verse. The four-minute short is filled with slapstick Looney Tunes-esque humor as comedian/actor John Mulaney gets some well-deserved exclusive screen time as the wise-cracking Spider-Ham.
It’s another normal day for Peter Porker, a.k.a. the Spectacular Spider-Ham, fighting bad guys and loving hot dogs, until a mysterious portal starts messing with the very fabric of his cartoon reality!
Following the success of
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Sony seems to be all-in on the animated franchise with a sequel and spin-off in development. While a Spider-Ham spinoff hasn't been announced, John Mulaney did express interest in returning as Peter Porker.
