However, you are able to rent or buy it on Amazon Prime Video or Vudu for $9.99.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer first debuted in 1964. The animated special is based on the Johnny Marks song of the same name, which itself is based on the poem written by Marks' brother-in-law in 1939. While you very well may know the song about Rudolph, the hour-long special offers a fun-filled adventure when the young stag with a bright red nose runs away from the North Pole. Accompanied by Hermey, a misfit Elf who dreams of being a dentist, and Yukon Cornelius, a prospector who has spent his entire life in search of silver and gold, the trio make their way to the Island of Misfit Toys. But this is just the start of their adventure. Here's the official synopsis:
Sam the snowman tells us the story of a young red-nosed reindeer who, after being ousted from the reindeer games because of his beaming honker, teams up with Hermey, an elf who wants to be a dentist, and Yukon Cornelius, the prospector. They run into the Abominable Snowman and find a whole island of misfit toys.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a classic holiday special that has been telecast every year since 1964. It's the longest continuously running Christmas TV special in the United States.
If you're in the mood for other holiday classics, Frosty the Snowman, an animated special about the magical snowman with a corncob pipe, button nose, and two eyes made out of coal, is also on Freeform's schedule. As is Illumination Entertainment's CG-animated film Dr. Seuss's The Grinch.
