As the hype train keeps moving for fans of the Star Trek franchise, Paramount released a new clip to the masses, reminding even the older generation why they should still keep an eye on Star Trek: Prodigy. Slated to hit the streaming service later this month, they released the clip at New York Comic Con during the cast and producer panel featuring a very familiar captain.
The clip featured the outsider crew, many with their respected voices present, as they appear to have just overthrown the captain of the U.S.S. Protostar. A hologram of Star Trek: Voyager's Kathyrn Janeway made herself present and noted her directive to be able to help the crew get back to Federation Space. In the end, though, she's only there to offer advice.
The hologram Janeway clip wasn't the only spectacular showcase to come out of the panel, it was revealed that Robert Beltran, who appeared on Star Trek: Voyager as Commander Chakotay, would reprise his role, only difference though, is his position as a captain by the time the series kicks off.
The series was initially revealed during last year's Comic Con@Home event. The series was developed by seasoned cartoon peeps, Kevin and Dan Hageman, who have written for the likes of Trollhunters and Ninjago. The cast was revealed and as late as earlier this year, we learned the leading villain, the Diviner, would be played by Fringe alum, John Noble. Not just that, either, to his right will be Westworld's Jimmi Simpson as his minion, Drednok.
After Star Trek: Prodigy begins streaming on Paramount Plus on October 28, Nickelodeon will begin airing the episodes on the network.
