STAR TREK: PRODIGY Casts Fringe Alum As Leading Villain

Paramount Plus' upcoming animated Star Trek: Prodigy has cast Fringe alumnus, John Noble, as the series lead antagonist, the Diviner.

As Paramount Plus continues to chug along with the next season of Star Trek: Lower Decks in-production and its second season already here on the service, more info has been revealed about the cast of its upcoming youth-demographic Star Trek series, Star Trek: Prodigy.

The series, which will make its debut on Paramount Plus before starting to air on Nickelodeon, has cast Fringe alum, John Noble, as the series antagonist, the Diviner alongside Westworld actor, Jimmi Simpson, as Drednok, the spider-like minon to Noble's character. While Diviner's purpose is to rule Tars Lamora while seeking out USS Protostar, an experimental abandoned Federation starship. Drednok, on the other hand, only lives to serve their master.

Alongside Noble and Simpson, Kate Mulgrew will return to her post as the captain of the USS Voyager. Dr. McStuffins' Rylee Alazraqui will play the role of the 8-year-old animal loving, Rok-Tahk, On My Block's Brett Grey as 17-year-old leader-type, Dal, Ralph Breaks The Internet's Jason Mantzoukas as 16-year-old Jankom Pog, The Crown's Angus Imrie as Zero, The Legend of Tarzan's Ella Purnell as 17-year-old Gwyn, and animation mainstay Dee Bradley Baker as Murf.

Series creators Kevin and Dan Hageman are serving as executive producers for this first-time series, with Star Trek never really diving into the realm of making a series explictly for a younger audience. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry Trevor Roth, and Katie Krentz also are in the same role. Eye Animation Productions, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment are all coproducing the series.
