Netflix typically isn't known for releasing its original movies in theaters, but when you have a film as successful as KPop Demon Hunters, you try to find a way to capitalize. Since debuting on the streaming service in June, KPop Demon Hunters has shattered viewership records, becoming Netflix's most-watched original animated film of all time. Now, the streamer is ready to see if that success can translate to the box office.

According to reports, KPop Demon Hunters will be hitting the big screen later this month. While nothing official has been announced, Fandango has launched a ticketing page for KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event. Tickets are not yet available, but it looks like a limited time event with special screenings held on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th.

KPop Demon Hunters is a CG-animated musical action-fantasy film from Sony Pictures Animation. The story revolves around Huntr/x, a world-famous K-pop girl group that moonlights as demon hunters. Using their powerful voices, they protect their fans from supernatural demon threats through the mystical "Honmoon" barrier.

Beyond dominating Netflix’s streaming charts, KPop Demon Hunters has achieved unprecedented music success as well. The film's soundtrack debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200, and claimed the #1 spot on US Top Soundtracks. The movie's signature track "Golden," performed by Huntr/x, hit #1 on the Billboard Global 200 and became the highest-charting soundtrack single in years in the U.S., peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. KPop Demon Hunters' music has proven so successful that even its fictional groups HUNTR/X and Saja Boys topped Spotify charts in the U.S., outpacing real K-pop giants like BTS and BLACKPINK.

The incredible success of KPop Demon Hunters, particularly its soundtrack, has sparked comparisons to Disney’s Frozen and its worldwide cultural impact. With the film’s soaring popularity, it’s no surprise that it’s now hitting theaters as a sing-along event, one that’s just as likely to captivate adults as it is kids.

When K-pop superstars Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) aren’t selling out stadiums or topping Billboard charts, they’re using their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger. Together, they must face their biggest threat — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.

Netflix has released some of its original films in theaters, though usually in a limited capacity or as part of a special event. Assuming KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event does officially get announced, would you see it in theaters?
