Ada Twist, Scientist, the series coming to Netflix this September, saw its first teaser drop featuring its namesake protagonist, Ada, alongside her chums as they go about conducting various expirments while she narrates over them.
The series isn't some no-name project with small-time people behind it, though, barring former president and first lady Barack and Michelle Obama, the series also enlisted Chris Nee, who is best known as the creator of fellow children's animated CG series, Doc McStuffins.
Ada Twist, Scientist follows its namesake character, Ada Twist, a black eight-year-old girl with dreams of being a scientist and discovering the truth about literally everything. It is based on a best-selling book series of the same name by Andrea Beaty and illistrated by David Roberts. Much like the books, Twist is a budding scientist with an unbeatable curiosity that she aims to quench with the help of her friends, Rosie Revere and Iggy Peck.
This series is another part of the Obamas' Higher Ground Productions' Netflix deal. In it, they've already net some acclaim for their works such as American Factory, Crip Camp, and Becoming. Nee is working alongside Wonder Worldwide's Mark Burton and Higher Grounds' Tonia Davis and Priya Swaminathan, and author Beaty and illistrator Roberts as well. Kerri Grant, who has a storied history of childrens' programming, is acting as the series' showrunner.
Ada Twist, Scientist is coming to Netflix September 28.
