X-MEN '97 Star Ross Marquand Believes We'll Eventually See AVENGERS VS. X-MEN In The Revival Series

X-Men '97 has so far featured cameos from a few high-profile Marvel characters, including Spider-Man and Captain America.

The latter is best known for leading The Avengers, and with everything this world's mutants are going through - including Magneto seemingly declaring war on humanity - could a clash between them and the X-Men be on the horizon?

Talking to ComicBook.com, Professor X actor Ross Marquand shared his belief that there's "a real chance" the two teams go head-to-head in an Avengers vs. X-Men adaptation.

"You saw what happened in the last episode [with] Rogue and Captain America," Marquand said. "There's a real chance that that could happen. He can't fly. Captain can't fly. She threw that in the side of a snowy mountain."

"I'm sure it's lodged in there 50 feet deep. He ain't gonna find that shield," he joked. "It's not like Mjolnir where you can just like pull it back, it's stuck in that thing. He's gonna be pissed at Rogue for a while."

It would be bonkers to see the X-Men and Avengers do battle in X-Men '97, particularly as there are hints the mutants will be radicalised in the wake of the attack on Genosha (which would follow the comic books, to some extent).

While Marquand is optimistic it could happen, for now, he's just happy to be part of the X-Men: The Animated Series revival. "I say this to my manager all the time...if this is the last thing I do with my career, I'd die a happy man. I really would."

Elsewhere in the interview, Marquand reflected on another of his MCU roles. While he previously voiced Infinity Ultron in What If...?, The Walking Dead star made his Marvel Studios debut as Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

Reflecting on that, he confirmed his role was shot in a single day!

"It was a helluva of a way to work, and I really like that style of filming," Marquand explained, revealing he received his scenes on the day. "I think we finished it in eight hours - both films, back-to-back, in one day. I mean that's unheard of."

X-Men '97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

Eight episodes of X-Men '97 are now streaming on Disney+ with new instalments following weekly.
