DreamWorks Animation's Forgotten Island is ready for living rooms. The studio announced that fans can watch the film at home now with 60 minutes of exclusive bonus content. Check out the announcement down below:

According to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, the digital release begins today across participating platforms, months before the film hits subscription streaming. Physical 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions follow on December 1. That staggered plan gives families a chance to own the movie while it is still fresh from theaters.

What The Movie Is About

On their last night before heading down separate life paths, best friends Jo and Raissa find a mysterious portal that drops them onto Nakali, a mythical island filled with magical creatures drawn from Filipino folklore. As they search for a way home, their memories start to slip. The question hanging over the adventure is simple and heavy: can they get off the island before they forget each other forever?

Writers and directors Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado, from the team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, made the film with producer Mark Swift. The voice cast includes H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng, and Lea Salonga.

The Bonus Features

Universal says the home release packs roughly 60 minutes of exclusives. The lineup includes featurettes on Jo and Raissa's friendship, the film's take on Filipino mythology, the anime-inspired look of Nakali, a Philippines travel piece with the directors, a music deep dive, a lyric video for BINI's "A Parallel World," How to Draw segments for creatures from the Wild Pack, and a commentary track with Crawford and Mercado.

That is a generous extras slate for an original DreamWorks title, and it leans into the cultural research that shaped the movie instead of padding the disc with trailers alone.

From Theaters To Digital

Forgotten Island earned strong critic and audience scores on the way out of theaters, including a Certified Fresh / Verified Hot run on Rotten Tomatoes and an A CinemaScore, per Universal's home entertainment materials. Our earlier box office check showed the film already losing a large chunk of its theater count as the run wound down, which makes today's digital arrival feel well timed. You can revisit that report here: Forgotten Island shedding more than 1,400 theaters.

If you missed it on the big screen, or if you want to show it to someone who could not catch a theatrical showing, the digital window is open now. Physical collectors can wait for the December 1 disc release if they want the 4K or Blu-ray shelf copy.

Why The Extras Matter

Original animated movies live or die on whether families want to revisit them after opening weekend. Sixty minutes of bonus content is DreamWorks and Universal arguing that Forgotten Island has more to offer than a single watch. The Philippines travel featurette, the creature breakdowns, and the How to Draw segments are especially useful for younger viewers who fell for Nakali's mythological cast.

The digital-first strategy also respects how people actually watch now. Not every household wants to wait for a disc, and not every fan lives near a theater that still had the film late in its run. Today's release closes that gap while the December 1 physical editions cover collectors who want 4K or Blu-ray on the shelf.

If you loved the friendship story in theaters, the Friends for Life and culture featurettes are the extras to hit first. If you were there for the creatures, start with Creatures of Lore and the drawing lessons.

Are you downloading Forgotten Island tonight, or holding out for the December disc release?
