X-Men '97 is expected to premiere on Disney+ next year, giving fans of X-Men: The Animated Series a sequel they never expected would become a reality.
While there are conflicting reports about how long the show will stick around (some say it could be as many as four seasons), we're guessing this is all part of Marvel Studios' plan to refamiliarise fans with these characters. Fox did a lot of damage to the franchise, with Dark Phoenix ending things on an undeniably sour note.
When the X-Men do return to live-action, we'd like to think it will be in something resembling their comic book costumes.
The black leather and street clothes paying homage to what they wear on the page have been done to death, so embracing the source material feels like the best possible idea.
Now, popular cosplayer Anastasia Galuzina, a.k.a. Uli-chan, has shared her take on Rogue inspired by X-Men: The Animated Series. As we're sure you'll agree, the costume looks phenomenal in live-action and could definitely work in a future movie with a few minor tweaks at most.
X-Men: The Animated Series premiered in 1992 and ran for a total of 76 episodes. The show was a hit with comic book fans and delivered a near-perfect take on the mutant team that still resonates today.
"Marvel Studios presents 'X-Men '97,'" the latest synopsis reads, "in which the X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before and are forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future."
As noted, X-Men '97 is currently eyeing an early 2024 debut. Check out this jaw-dropping cosplay below and see more of Galuzina's cosplay by heading over to her Instagram account.
