French studio Xilam Animation has been single-handedly keeping the genre of slapstick animation alive and well with its list of hit animated series. Slapstick animation (especially the silent type) was made famous back in the 30s and 40s with shows like Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes but has since been much harder to find in mainstream media.
Trico is an all CG series that was created by Xilam that has been keeping the old genre alive with its vibrant colors and hilarious gags. Following an ewe and sheep who live on a farm, the duo tries to have some fun every day while keeping the flock safe from a hungry wolf.
The series will be Netflix's first French animated feature and is shaping up to be a vibrant and wonderfully created world for audiences to enjoy. Hopefully, this will even help to usher in a new era of slapstick that hasn't been seen in decades!
Now, with the series reaching an even wider audience sometime in 2022! We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments and make sure to stay tuned for any future updates!
In this new series, mountain pasture life is a little too peaceful for former globetrotter Trico. Luckily for him, he always has tons of ideas, and objects from his travels, to share with his fellow sheep to shake things up! All this new ruckus is at Biscotte’s expense, a tough ewe whose job is to keep the flock safe. An especially hard task with the Wolf lurking around, waiting to make the most of this newfound chaos by catching a few sheep here and there. Fortunately, we can count on Trico and Biscotte’s friendship to overcome these challenges and keep the Wolf from snacking on their wooly companions!
Trico will debut on Netflix in 2022!
