Space Jam 2 is an upcoming live-action/animated sports comedy movie starring LeBron James and all manner of Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Malcolm D. Lee (Night School) directs while Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) produces.
It's a sequel to the 1996 classic in which the Looney Tunes enlist Michael Jordan to help them win an intergalactic basketball competition. Back in January, Don Cheadle (Avengers: Endgame) confirmed that he will play a role in the movie but was careful in doing so, saying that he couldn't reveal anything about his role.
Well, now we might know just a little about the actor's role in Space Jam 2 thanks to Paul Scheer. Black Monday is a dark comedy television series in which Cheadle stars alongside Scheer. The latter recently featured on the Clip City Podcast and seemed to confirm that Cheadle will be playing the villain of the upcoming sequel.
Scheer's exact words were as follows: "Actually Don Cheadle, who I do 'Black Monday' with, he's the bad guy in 'Space Jam,' and he said LeBron's really great. He was great in 'Train Wreck' too." To be frank, it seems pretty cut and dry. This also lines up with Cheadle not wanting to disclose anything about his role.
Perhaps Cheadle will serve as the voice of an animated antagonist just as Danny DeVito did in the original Space Jam.
Space Jam 2 is set to arrive in theatres on July 16th, 2021.
