We may have some exciting news for fans of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series, as new information seems to suggest that an animated series could be currently in the works, and that the show may be written by the creator of John Wick.
This information comes from sources that contacted Variety, and their information reveals that this Splinter Cell animated series will not only be written by John Wick series Creator Derek Kolstad, but it will also be produced by him, alongside Netflix and Ubisoft.
Sources also claim that the reported Splinter Cell animated series will consist of two seasons and 16 episodes already. It is likely that this means the series will probably be just the one season split into two parts of 8 episodes each; this is pure speculation, though.
Variety reveals that they have contacted Netflix and Ubisoft, although both companies have declined to comment on the veracity of the Splinter Cell animated series, which is quite unfortunate. We'll just have to keep patiently waiting until official information either confirms or debunks this information.
A Splinter Cell series written by the creator of John Wick definitely sounds like something that could be appealing to fans of the popular stealth video game series. If true, however, let's hope that the show isn't as action-oriented as the John Wick series is. With that said, Kolstad really sounds like a great choice to pen the series' script.
