Season 2 of Netflix's CG-animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will premiere on January 22, 2021, the streaming service announced. The spin-off series to the Jurassic World film franchise follows a group of six teens who attended a state-of-the-art adventure camp on Isle Nublar, only to have their vacation interrupted by the dinosaurs breaking out of captivity. The sophomore season picks up with now completely left behind and forced to fend for themselves.
Netflix announced the season two premiere date with a new action-packed trailer. While the series is CG-animated and targeted towards teens, it's not at all campy or childish. In fact, the first season of the series actually ended on a rather dark cliffhanger.
Season 2 looks to continue the same intense, heart-pounding moments and promises to mix in some surprises along the way -- like the possibility that they may not be the only survivors left on the island. The trailer ends on an ominous note, as a mysterious figure launches a flair into the sky to distract a T-Rex.
It's unclear who this person could be, but it doesn't sound good. As per EW, the logline for the second season teases that this discovery "not only threatens their rescue but may uncover something more sinister."
What could it mean? We'll find out next year when Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous returns on January 22!
