In exactly one month's time,
Sonic the Hedgehog will arrive in theatres in his very own feature film. The cast includes Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter — the former two of which play the titular character and Dr. Robotnik respectively. Jeff Fowler directs.
Despite there being such a little amount of time until the film arrives in theatres, it has only just been provided an official age-rating by classification boards. MPA Classification and Rating Administration has given the upcoming video game movie a
"PG" — which means
"Parental Guidance."
They reference action, some violence, rude humour, and brief mild language as their reasoning for the rating. Many believed that the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie might warrant a PG-13 rating as the titular character is known to be quite irreverent but that's evidently not the case.
It turns out that the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie is a family affair — which is something that will reportedly play into it owning the Valentine's Day weekend at the box office.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
