From the opening of Up to the ending of Inside Out or Toy Story 3, Pixar have gotten into the habit of causing their audience to sob - and it sounds like their next instalment will be no different. Tom Hanks, who stars in Toy Story 4 as Woody, recently discussed his final day of work on the sequel.
During an interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Hanks re-affirmed his co-star Tim Allen's comments regarding the film's ending, explaining that his last day in the recording booth was very emotional - to the extent that he couldn't face the rest of the crew:
The way you record Toy Story, you're in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you're facing him so you can look right up and you can talk about it. But I didn't want to see them and I wanted to pretend they couldn't see me. When I realized what they were going for, I realized, 'Oh, this is a moment in history.'
Following the announcement of another Toy Story film, many denounced it as unnecessary seeing as the third instalment heartwarmingly rounded out the story - many believed that Toy Story 4 simply couldn't possibly top its predecessor. Well, with Hanks labelling the film "a moment in history", perhaps those folks were too quick to judge.
What do you think of Hanks' statement? Are you looking forward to Toy Story 4?
Toy Story 4 is set to mosey into theatres on June 21st, 2019.
