2010's
Toy Story 3 had an emotional ending that probably left you leaving the theater on the verge of tears, if not sobbing uncontrollably. We don't know much yet about the plot of
Toy Story 4, but Buzz Lightyear voice actor Tim Allen suggests it could be even more emotional than its predecessor.
Appearing on The Talk, Allen spoke a bit about the upcoming Pixar film, calling it an "incredibly great story."
"Yes... I gotta resist getting emotional, I don't want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story," Allen said.
"It's so emotional, it's so funny, it's so big, the idea they've come up with, I'm startled. I couldn't even get through the last scene."
Unfortunately, Allen couldn't be a "Washington leaker" and reveal more specifics, but he did add:
"They've got great characters, but a couple of scenes towards the end are really hard to get through."
Based on Allen's comments, it sounds like we could be saying a final farewell to some longtime fan-favorite toys.
There's been plenty of drama surrounding the production of
Toy Story 4, specifically with the script as initial writers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack departed from the project. At the time, the movie was described as a love story between Bo Beep and Woody; however, it's unclear if that changed when Pixar brought in
Black List writer Stephany Folsom to rewrite the script.
Toy Story 4 opens in theaters June 21, 2019.
