The Wizard of Oz is one of the most beloved books and franchises in the world, and ever since the first film that was released in 1939, it is also one of the most important films ever made as well. One of the standouts of the story and film has always been Dorothy's loyal canine companion Toto.
Writer Michael Morpurgo and illustrator Emma Chichester Clark decided to give the little dog his due in a fabulous retelling of the story titled Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz. The story saw the perspective of the classic tale shift to that of Toto and how he helped in Dorothy's adventure to get home.
It was recently revealed that Warner Bros. Animation was looking to adapt the film into a musical of the same name but had been unable to obtain a director. All of that has recently changed with the confirmation that Tony award-nominated director Alex Timbers would be bringing his touch to the story! While working on plays, he is no stranger to the younger audience with the work on the Peter and the Starcatchers play.
With a director in place, it's time to follow the yellow brick road all the way to the premiere! We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below!
