Last month,
it was reported that Warner Bros. has delayed production of their upcoming
Sesame Street movie by a total of nine months. The beginning of shooting was shifted from this month to April 2020.
At the time, this delay didn't impact the film's release date - which was January 2021. However, now
The Wrap is reporting that the release date of the upcoming Anne Hathaway starrer has been pushed back by five months. The
Sesame Street movie is now set to arrive in theatres of June 4th, 2021.
This change has occured on account of a scheduling conflict. Hathaway is currently busy working on Robert Zemeckis remake of
The Witches. It's also believed that the actress has some other projects and commitments which prevent production of the
Sesame Street movie from beginning sooner than April of next year.
Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia) is attached to direct the
Sesame Street movie. Shawn Levy and Michael Aguilar will produce. Mike Rosolio and Chris Galletta have penned drafts of the script. Last month,
it was reported that the film will feature original songs written by, comedian and director, Bo Burnham.
The Sesame Street movie is set to arrive in theatres on June 4th, 2021.
