To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disney's animated classic The Little Mermaid, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing the film on 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray.

Disney are yet to announce a release date for the "30th Anniversary Edition" Blu-Ray, however it is listed on Target - along with a limited-edition set which includes a filmmaker gallery and storybook (and is exclusive to Target). It's believed that the copy will drop on February 26th, 2019.

This release is, of course, in-time for the live-action retelling of The Little Mermaid which is currently being developed. It will be directed  by Rob Marshall and feature songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, songwriter for Moana and Mary Poppins Returns, as well as Alan Menken's songs which featured in the original animated film. Some rumours claim that Zendaya and Lady Gaga are up for the roles of Ariel and Ursula respectively.

Will you be ordering a copy of The Little Mermaid in this format? Are you looking forward to the live-action remake?

Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid doesn't currently have a set release date.
